What We Learned About This Weekend...March 5/6, 2011

Critter Cove and Short Boarders
Birth - Kindergarten

John 9:1-7
Jesus covers a blind man's eyes with mud, tells him to go wash and the man's eyes are healed. Grab a hat or apron from the house and make it your "special helper" hat/apron. Hang it somewhere in the kitchen for everyone to see. Give it to your child to wear while he helps you. Tell your child that Jesus helps people and He wants to help people too, Each time he helps, praise him for being such a good helper just like Jesus.

This month each week’s Bible story and materials revolve around the virtue of courage—being brave enough to do what you should do even when you’re afraid. Today, help kids discover that God created courage. Even though kids may comprehend that God doesn’t have anything to fear, they need to know that He understands how scary life can be. He doesn’t promise that we’ll never be afraid. In fact, courage is not the absence of fear. It’s doing what we need to do despite the fear. Because He wants us to be courageous, God promises to be with us, to help us so that we can overcome fear. The courage He gives us will help us stand up and step in to do hard or scary things. Remember David facing Goliath? Courage and trusting in God can have extraordinary results, not just for us, but for anyone who witnesses it.
