What We Learned About This Weekend...April 23/24, 2011

Critter Cove and Short Boarders
Birth - Kindergarten

Jesus had a special meal with His disciples. He was getting ready to leave but promised to come back. Jesus dies on a cross and His friends were very sad. After three days in a tomb an angel rolled the stone away and Jesus came back, just like He said He would. Cuddle up with your child and pray with her: "Dear God, thank You for Jesus. He is the best friend we could ever have. Thank You that He died on the cross and is alive today. I pray that [name of child] will want Jesus to be her friend forever. Amen."

Beach House
Grades 1 - 6

We’ve spent the month learning about humility, putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve, by taking a closer look at Jesus’ attitudes and actions. He modeled and taught humility when He washed the disciples’ feet. He showed us we’d need God’s help to put others first (especially when it would cost us a great deal personally) when He allowed Himself to be arrested. He sacrificed Himself for each one of us by paying for our salvation. He did for us what no one else could’ve done. When it was finished, He could’ve returned immediately to heaven, His rightful place. But He didn’t. Instead He stuck around, making sure His followers understood exactly what He’d done, putting us first again. We have the power to do hard things, like putting others first, because of what Jesus did for us. Help kids discover the single most significant way to put others first: by telling others the good news about Jesus.
