Beach House

(Grades 1 - 6)

Virtue: Peace - Proving that you care more about others than winning an argument.
Memory Verse: “So let us do all we can to live in peace.  And let us work hard to build each other up." - Romans 14:19 (NIV)
Bible Story: Abigail Helps David and Nabal (1 Samuel 25:16-35)
Bottom Line: Just because you didn’t start a fight doesn’t mean you can’t stop it.

This weekend we talked about how to pursue peace even when you may not be directly involved in the conflict. We are looking at a story in 1 Samuel 25. King David is angry with a man who treated his soldiers wrongly. David is going back to get revenge when the man’s wife, Abigail, comes out of the house and intervenes. She confronts David with his impulsiveness, and prevents him from committing a horrible act. Abigail illustrates the principle that sometimes you may be a third party who needs to get involved to stop something bad from happening.
