Sometimes a kid may need to drop it. Other times he may need to give something away to make peace. This weekend we looked at a story in Genesis 26. In this story, Isaac is asked to move because the leaders of the land fear his power and influence. So Isaac moved to the valley where his father previously lived and he found some of his father’s old wells. When Isaac began to reopen the wells, the people in that part of the country claimed the wells were theirs. Three times, Isaac makes a deliberate choice to give away what was rightfully his in order to make peace. At the end of the story, because of his character and because of the way he chose to value people, the leaders who asked Isaac to move changed their opinion about who Isaac was and they trusted him.
