This weekend, Pastor Tim talked to us about dealing with Crisis. As he talked through his three main points (be patient, be faithful, and be present), I couldn't help but be reminded of James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
- James 1:2-4
One of the things that I fall back on often in the midst of crisis is a basic truth about God. God is good. I know it sounds like a simple starting point when it comes to looking at life, but it has been incredibly helpful in my own life. James 1:2-4 reminds us of that when we are in the midst of crisis (remember, not crisis caused by our own poor decisions, but crisis because of our faithfulness to God's word, and obeying His instruction), we can rest on the fact that the trials we face are developing us. And not just that we'll get through it. But that through the trials we face, God in his goodness, is growing us to be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
That sounds like a great place to end up!
