VV Baptism Testimonies

1.       In a few sentences, write what led you to understand that you need Christ to take away your sin:

I knew that I was living a sinful, sad life that more than often felt lonely, and empty.  I realized that at anytime I could die and be separated from God forever so from that day forward I have made a choice to follow Jesus.

2.       Describe what your life was like before you gave your life to Jesus Christ:

My life seemed dark and quiet. I always looked at the negatives in everything instead of the positive.

How and When and Why:

1.       Tell us how and when and why (specific details) you received Christ as your Lord and Savior.  Explain it in such a way that a non-Christian would understand how to become a Christian.

I received Christ as my savior by taking my belief one step at a time. After I realized that I was living a life that Jesus would not be proud of, I immediately prayed to him asked Him to forgive me and take over my life, and asked him specifically to walk with me the entire day, every day. I asked Jesus to stand next to me and give me the strength to get out of the hole that I was in and I told him that my faith would never be broken like it was before. I began to see results over night and my life started to become so much happier. My girlfriend and I were going through these things together so we both continued to pray and thank Jesus for helping us.

2.       Who helped you understand what to do?

My mom and step dad helped me understand what to do. They started going to HDC a couple years before me. I knew that they were attending church but I never gave any thought to it until I started praying and asking for forgiveness. My mom and step dad told my girlfriend and I that we were more than welcome to attend a sunday service with them. I have never spent a lot of time in a church environment so I was nervous to go. The first person I met when I stepped on the HDC campus was Pastor Jeff Barbour.   Pastor Jeff immediately introduced himself and made me feel comfortable. His happy and excited attitude convinced me that this is the place that I belonged.

1.       In a few sentences, explain how your life is different now that Jesus is in it.

I am able to talk to God at any moment and I never feel alone. My life has dramatically changed in the one month’s time that I have reached out to Jesus. I just found another job, my financial situation is extremely better, and I have an even closer relationship with my family.

2.       Make sure you have a clear and concise closing that you can memorize to tell others.

I have lived a life away from Jesus and I promised him and God that I would never live apart from them again. I am so much happier now that I know Jesus is proud of the progress I have made so far. I want to continue to better my life and my relationship with Jesus and I know continuing to follow him is the only way to truly be happy.
