VV Baptism Testimonies

Jessica Munoz

I shall start by saying that getting baptized is a really huge thing for me. My whole life I was raised as a Roman Catholic so it took me a while to get used to this whole new way of thinking about things.  It wasn’t until my junior year of high school that I realized that Jesus is my one and only savior. I am now a senior in high school ready to take this extra step.

As a child, I saw how my family struggled. That is one thing I will never forget about my childhood. Having to move out and share a house with 6 other relatives. My father traveled (truck driving) to make a living. As well as my mother trying to work for us. I saw them struggle in their marriage as well. But, with the help of God, everything got better.

My whole life I knew there was something up there helping us. My father was always the most religious, without him I wouldn’t have found Jesus. And it’s funny because my fathers name is Jesus as well. My family and I started praying, saying grace, and my dad gave us lessons, which I thought were lectures at the time, but it took me a while to realize that they were all lessons of things we should know. Seeing my dad get baptized was very motivational and inspiring for me and my family.

A miracle that made me believe a little more was in 2012, when my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer in his brain.  It was hard on my whole family so we started praying and asking Jesus to take care of him. Well, about 2 years of a very difficult time for him passed but now I am able to say that my grandpa is a cancer survivor. I consider it such a blessing and a miracle.

Something that happened not that long ago, that made me want to change my own ways as an example to my little brother, Isaac, occurred when he went through a very hard and heart breaking time of depression.  It was hard on all of us seeing him go through that. We went to Jesus for help. Jesus heard our prayers and out of no where, Isaac decided to go to camp with other HDC kids. Camp helped him so much. Seeing him get baptized with other students was such a great feeling knowing he gave his life to christ.

This step my mom and I are taking is something very important to us. Jesus has done so much for my family and I. I feel like it is time to take this extra step and repay him. I gave my life completely to Jesus Christ because I know that after everything I have done and that has happened in my life, he will still be the one and only person who can save me.
