VV Baptism Testimonies

John Schmidt

One day, a little over a year and a half ago, I had just come home from school and had just talked with a good friend of mine about God. During our discussion, she suggested I check out a Christian radio station. When I got home, I decided to get it a try. I sat down in my room and just turned on the radio.  It was at that moment that I decided to pray for the first time in my life.  I just asked God, “if you’re out there and you’re real, would you just let me know in some way.” The song on the radio immediately changed and I felt something completely new down inside of me.  Something changed in my heart in that moment and I still can’t explain it.  For some reason God just became real and alive to me in that moment.

Before I decided to follow Jesus, I wasn't the person I needed to be for the people around me. I wasn’t very pleasant to be around and I wasn't in the right mind-set. But then I was brought to Jesus and that changed everything.  Jesus has brought my errors to my attention and guided me to the solutions. He stayed with me when I chose to do my own thing, He stepped in and got me through the roughest patches.  He kept me going.

I made the decision to get baptized during my time at Hume Lake Summer Camp. I decided this because I want to proclaim to the world that I have chosen to give my life to Christ and make Him known.
