About 5 years ago, I started coming to HDC off and on with my granddad, Paul Post, on Saturday nights. Then my parents started coming and bringing my brother and I as well. A couple years later, my granddad passed away and I was very angry and upset with God for taking him away. The next summer, a year after he passed, my parents signed me up for my first year of summer camp for 6th grade. A few days later, the church office called and said that I was on the waiting list and that I would most likely not be going to camp. I was very upset because of the news and I was still mourning the loss of my granddad as well. For the next couple of days, I was constantly upset, but I prayed very hard asking God to let me go to camp. Then, my mom got a call from the church and she was told that a counselor said he would take the boys on the waiting list and we would be in his cabin. I was so happy and excited for the fun activities, but not for learning about Jesus Christ. While I was at camp, my counselor, Matt, talked to me about my granddad and told me about the story of Christ. That day, I accepted Christ as my Savior, but I didn’t show that I was a follower of Him. The next year at junior high camp, I realized that I wasn’t living the life God wanted me to. So I started showing my faith to kids at school, and my life began to change. My life changed even more when I went to the 8th grade boys retreat, Passages. There, they taught me how to be a Man of God and that completely changed my life for the better. I now have full faith in Christ and I want to show my faith to the world by getting baptized.
