VV Baptism Testimonies

Christine Torrez-Mecham

Many testimonies begin with what life was like prior to knowing Christ and how dramatically life can change once your heart is fully given to Him. My testimony is not one of dramatic life change, only one of growth. I have always known Christ. I was raised in a Christian home with strong Christian values and beliefs. There was never a time when I did not know Jesus or know that He was a constant, rich presence in my life and the lives of my family members.

My love of Jesus started before I can remember. As a little girl I was in love and on fire for Jesus! Church was my favorite place to be. As I have grown, my love for my heavenly father has deepened and developed in to the knowledge that I need Him, desperately. I believe that life is no life at all without Him.

Every life has peaks and valleys, for all humans, whether Christian or not. The difference that I have seen throughout my Christian life is that I have peace and hope in knowing that I am loved and that an eternal life waits because I have Jesus. There is always hope for a better day, there is always security knowing my Savior stands beside me, strength in knowing that He is all I need and that with him there is nothing I can’t take on. I thank my mother and grandmother for keeping me in church and simply making God our way of life.

I have not been baptized simply because I grew up in a military home, which means we moved a lot and in turn had to switch churches frequently. As I grew older it became important to me to be baptized in a “home church” so to speak. I wanted to be baptized in a church that I would remain attending for years to come. Our frequent moves ended when I was in high school. I grew up, married and became a mother and still had not found the church where I would be baptized due to a few moves and life events. At that point I decided that when my children were ready to be baptized, I would join them. I have to admit I have been anxiously watching as they have grown closer to God and my daughter and son have chosen to get baptized. Now is the time. I am very excited to finally complete this step in my life with my children.
