VV Baptism Testimonies

Samantha Stanfill

I have always grown up with my family going to church but it never really meant anything. I always just went because I either had to or because I was interested on the rare occasion. This dragged on until I was about ten. I had a lot going on at the time and I ended up sitting down at the table with my parents and my dad prayed for my sins to be forgiven. Later that night I laid down in my bed and felt completely guilty and just started praying and ended up giving my life over to God.

After giving my life to Christ I felt completely renewed. For me school life was easier, getting along with friends and family was easier and having the assurance that someone loved me as much as God was the best feeling. When I get down I always like to go back to my favorite verse “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6). This verse means so much to me because it reminds me that Gods love for us overpowers any sin no matter how big or small. My favorite thing about being saved is that I’m now not just going through life without a purpose, I now have a life and purposed through God. I’m so excited to get baptized to show everyone that I am saved through the symbol of baptism. It will be so cool being put under like going into the grave and then rising out of the water like when Jesus rose again.
